Upcoming Korean shows in September 2023: A Time Called You, Song of the Bandits and more

September is shaping up to be an exciting month for K-drama. With multiple major premieres lining up, there are a lot of dates to be marked on the calendar. Starting off the month is A Time Called You, a time slip drama featuring A Business Proposal star Vincenzo star Ahn Hyo-seop and Jeon Yeo-been. Kim Nam-gil and Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun will come together in a Western-style Korean series titled Song of the Bandits. Moreover, Arthdal Chronicles returns with the next instalment – The Sword of Aramun.

Here are the top Korean shows to add to your watchlist in September 2023:  
A Time Called You is based on a popular Taiwanese drama with a time travel plot. The show starring Ahn Hyo-seop and Jeon Yeo-been revolves around a girl who after losing her boyfriend finds herself back in 1998 when she meets a guy who resembles him.

Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun
Everyone’s favourite fantasy drama Arthdal Chronicles returns with familiar and fresh faces. The show which is set eight years after the events of the 2019 series features Jang Dong-gun and Kim Ok-vin who are reprising their roles while Lee Joon-gi and Sin Se-kyung will take over Eun-seon and Saya’s roles.

Based on the novel The Day of the Kidnapping, the mystery thriller follows a broke man who kidnaps the daughter of a rich family to pay for his child’s surgery. However, things take a chaotic turn when the girl loses her memory and starts to believe he is her father.

In a month full of heavy content, Han River Police comes in with the promise of a fun action-comedy. The show sees Reply series star Sung Dong-il play a chief police officer. Along with a small team of misfits, he must go up against a dangerous criminal who is bent on ruining Han River.

The biggest title dropping towards the end of the month is Song of the Bandits, a historical drama set in the 1920s. The show stars Kim Nam-gil who plays a soldier-turned-bandit. He is joined by Girls’ Generayions’ Seohyun who is on the run from government officials.  
Release date: September 22
The Worst of Evil is one of the most awaited shows of the month as it features Ji Chang-wook and Squid Game star Wi Ha-joon. The sees a high-stakes undercover mission against a new drug in the market unfold.
