COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that 70% of farmers have already received their fertilizer subsidy coupons.
In a statement, the Ministry says that the Department of Agricultural Development
informed Subject Minister Mahinda Amaraweera on the matter on Sunday (11). Efforts are underway to ensure that all remaining coupons are distributed to farmers by the end of next week.
A ship carrying 22,500 MT of urea arrived in Sri Lanka on Saturday (10). Minister Amaraweera has instructed fertilizer companies to promptly distribute the stock to Agrarian Development Centers. Urea will be distributed to these centers from Monday (12).
