Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun today said no unfit vehicles would be allowed to ply on the roads and highways during the Eid holidays in order to ensure smooth journey of holidaymakers.
The police chief said this during a meeting at Police Headquarters (PHQ) on the overall law and order situation, road safety, and traffic management during Eid-ul-Azha, according to a press release issued in this regard.
In today’s meeting, the IGP also said that cattle-laden trucks cannot be stopped on the roads unless there is specific reason for that.
He also asked to call 999 if anyone hampers smooth transportation of the sacrificial animals.
Addressing the transport owners and workers, who also took part in the meeting, the IGP said that, often it is seen helpers instead of drivers drive the vehicles, posing risk of accidents. He urged the owners and workers to be alert about this.
The police chief urged all not to travel on goods-laden vehicles including trucks.
