COLOMBO (News 1st) – Due to the existing national security crisis in the country, Sunday services did not take place in most churches today(May 05). However, some Sunday services took place amidst heavy security.
A special holy mass took place at the Archbishop’s residence at 8 am this morning. The special holy mass was conducted by the Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, with the participation of several Catholic priests. His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith gave the following sermon at the mass.
His Eminence noted that all the devotees are committed to their Gods and they are in search of perfection in spiritual life. He also noted that if a person ignores religion and the belief of God, the person would be entangled in superficial values. Referring to the book, “Das Kapital” he noted that Karl Marx compares religion to opium. His Eminence noted that in a way it is true when a person follows extremism in his/her religion and uses religion to harm others.
