At a time when most people who are away from their homes, are stuck in their travel destination, worries about how to return amid confusion regarding visa, one celebrity has decided to make the most of it – Sonu Nigam. In a social media post, Sonu declared that he was practicing self isolation with his family in Dubai.
In an interview to a Mumbai newspaper, sonu detailed his travel history. He was in the Himalayas till March 5 and then joined his family in Dubai since his Mumbai concert got canceled. But instead of rushing back home amid the travel restrictions, sonu decided to stay put. ‘Dont wanna be stuck in quarantine and burden the already burdened authorities,” he was quoted as saying. Incidentally, his son Nevaan 8s studying in Dubai and now that his school is shut following the order from the authorities, the Nigam family has a lot of time on hand.
So how is he passing time in Dubai? Essentially by staying indoors, taking all precautions, keeping clean and practicing social distancing.
Interestingly, the singer is also participating in the janta curfew requested by Indian PM Narendra Modi, in a unique way. Sonu has decided to perform online for his fans during curfew time. The idea, he says, struck him when the PM announced the timings of the curfew and he felt it would be a good step to give his fans something to cheer about as they stayed home. He wants to reach out to people who follow Indian music so the concert will be live streamed through his various social media platforms.
Sonu Nigam thus joins other celebrities who are giving their fans a treat through online concerts. A few days ago, Pakistani singer Sajjad Ali announced an online concert to help people stay at home. Even other Hollywood singers have announced similar measures.
