Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha is back on screens with yet another installment of her most famous film franchise, Dabangg. Fans had been eagerly waiting for her to share the screen with Salman Khan. However, her latest release, Dabangg 3 comes amid nationwide protests against the new citizenship law that discriminates against the Muslims living in the country. The film opened to good collections in its opening weekend, however, Sonakshi feels that there are more important things to be worried about than how much her film made on the first day of its release.
Speaking about her film and the ongoing protests, Sonakshi said, “We all know what is going on in the entire country. I think people know that what is more important, but I am honestly happy with audience response to our film. At this moment, entire country has come together on this matter – the CAA protests – and it is more important than any film. I am with the people of this country. I feel the way people are protesting on streets, you can’t snatch that right from them. I am very proud of the people who have come out and voiced their opinion. I am with them.”
Adding to why some celebrities have not voiced their concerns on the comments, Sonakshi said, “Whoever wants to voice an opinion will voice, and whoever doesn’t want, will not. After all, that is also their right.” And when asked if the big guns of Bollywood are scared to shared their views publically, she responded, “I think they don’t feel scared, but when celebrities hit the streets, then the entire focus shifts on them. We know media cameras start following them, and because of that other people might feel ignored. If people can understand that they are also a part of the crowd, then they would definitely come out.”
