PM Khan acknowledges Putin’s statement on respect of Prophet SAWW

Prime Minister Imran Khan has welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement which reaffirms his message that insulting Holy Prophet (PBUH) is not freedom of expression.

In a tweet on Friday, he urged the Muslim leaders to spread this message to leaders of the non-Muslim world to counter Islamophobia.

On the other hand, various member of Pakistani political forefront are pouring in acknowledment messages.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain in a tweet said it’s the efforts of Prime Minister Imran Khan that an international leader like Vladimir Putin is presenting his opinion candidly.

Earlier, in his annual news conference Russian President Vladimir Putin has said insulting Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) doesn’t count as the expression of artistic freedom.

While praising artistic freedom in general, Putin said it has its limits and it should not infringe on other freedoms.

Russia has evolved as a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional state, so Russians, he said, are used to respecting each other’s traditions.

In some other countries, this respect comes in short supply, Putin said.
