The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that it is planning to organise the remaining games of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) later this year.
“The board of governors was informed that the PCB was planning to stage the remaining four matches later in the year,” the PCB said in a press release following the 58th meeting of the board. “While it plans to add a fifth venue in Peshawar for the 2021 edition, which is scheduled to be held in February and March 2021.”
The PSL was stopped following the conclusion of the tournament’s round-robin stage fixture due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The board also approved the constitution of a separate PSL department. “PSL Project Executive Shoaib Naveed will head the department as part of the PCB’s drive to improve stakeholder relationship and deliver top-quality event. There will also be an oversight group, which will comprise the chief executive, chief operating officer, chief financial officer and director commercial.”
A Rs7.76 billion operating expenditure budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year was also approved by the governing body in the meeting. “It is a 10% reduction from the 2019-20 budget as part of the PCB’s austerity, robust financial management and belt-tightening exercise.”
The cricket board has allocated 71.2% of the overall budget for cricket-related activities.
“The allocated 71.2% cricket budget includes 25.2% for domestic cricket (events and players/match officials/player support personnel contracts and high performance centre costs), 19.3% for international cricket (home/away series and player contracts), 5.5% for women’s cricket (home/away cricket and player contracts), 19.7% for PSL 2021 and 1.5% for medical and sport sciences,” the cricket board stated.
The governing board was informed about the revised 12-month merit-based domestic player contracts for the 2020-21 season, which comes into effect from August 1. The cricket board has decided to offer performance-based contracts to 192 leading domestic players (32 from each of the six cricket associations) instead of paying monthly retainer of Rs50,000 to all players.

domestic players is as follows:
- Category A+ = 10 players, Rs150,000
per month - Category A = 38 players, Rs85,000
per month - Category B = 48 players, Rs75,000
per month - Category C = 72 players, Rs65,000
per month - Category D = 24 players, Rs40,000
per month
The PCB mentioned that Chairman Ehsan Mani raised the issue of visas for Pakistan cricket teams for the upcoming ICC events in India. He confirmed the cricket board has offered to swap hosting rights for this year’s ACC T20 Cup with Sri Lanka Cricket.
