The ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance will hold a rally on August 7 protesting the “terror and anarchy” of BNP.
This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by AL presidium member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, also coordinator of Dhaka City unit 14-party alliance, at the central office of Awami League today.
The rally will be held in front of the Awami League headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue at 3:00pm.
Leaders in the meeting said the 14-party men will be on the streets with programmes across the country, including Dhaka, to “prevent any conspiracy of the BNP-Jamaat.”
Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said, “We want peace and order in the country. But BNP-Jamaat wants to destroy peace. They want to create chaos one after another.”
Maya warned that the consequences will be dire if the BNP try to “cross their limit”.
He reiterated that the 14-party will be in the streets until the next national election to resist the BNP.
At the meeting, AL Presidium Member Quamrul Islam alleged that the BNP is plotting to create disorder like they did in 2013-14.
Workers Party General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha, Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal General Secretary Shirin Akhtar, Dhaka City (South) Awami League President Abu Ahmed Mannafi, North unit’s President Bazlur Rahman and others were also present in the meeting.
