Stories like these just warm up your heart and light up your day – At the prime age of 80, a woman runs a business that helps the poor and her own family. In Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district, K Kamalathal makes idlis every day by hand and sells each at a mere one rupee. She claims that the low-pricing is to help the needy get food that they can afford. It all started with a video going viral on social media.

Recently, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra tweeted a video showing Kamalathal making idlis in her tiny cottage with traditional stone grinder to make batter and masalas and wood-burning stove to make idli and sambar. He wrote in his post, “One of those humbling stories that make you wonder if everything you do is even a fraction as impactful as the work of people like Kamalathal.
