COLOMBO(News 1st): 23 persons who took bribes have been arrested so far this year, The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption stated.
It’s Director SSP Padmini Weerasuriya stated, there are 18 government officials among them.
Among them are 09 police officers, a principal, and a divisional secretary, She further said.
The closure of the country for several months due to COVID-19 has reduced the number of bribery cases, She further added.
Taking bribes and providing bribes are both crimes punishable by law, She stated.
