Mirpur police arrested two persons after a woman filed a case against them yesterday on charges of rape and abetting the act.

Sabuz Al Sahba and Fatema alias Jhumur were arrested after the 22-year-old filed a rape case against them with Mirpur Police Station, said Ruksana Akter, a sub-inspector of the police station and also the investigation officer of the case.

The complainant alleged that she was employed as a house help at Fatema’s Cumilla residence a couple of days ago. On September 29, Fatema took the girl at Sabuz’s residence in Dhaka where the accused raped the girl, Ruksana said, quoting the case statement.

Sabuz was supposed to give Tk 10,000 to Fatema. As they were arguing over the money, the girl somehow managed to escape and later rushed to Mirpur Police Station to file the case.

Police arrested Fatema as she followed the complainant to the police station. Later, a team of police arrested Sabuz from Paschim Monipuri para area early today, the police officer added.
