  1. LOL The whole time you talk about the German's planting a weather station in Canada (which, by the way, was in The Dominion of Newfoundland at the time) you are showing images, including captions and maps, of Russians examining a similar station in Franz Josef Land in the high Russian arctic.

  2. I don't understand why Simon regularly inserts a pronoun where it isn't required. 'The war in Europe, it wasn't over quite yet, but the 3rd Reich….'
There's no need for the ', it' in this sentence, and I see similar stylistic littered throughout Simon's scripts. It's unnecessary and irritating. Please stop doing it.

  3. I really find it very off putting when any youtube promotes a game they would never play. This guy is an academic, he's not playing stupid video games. It just feels awkward when he pretends to care about this sponsor. I don't blame the channel, i blame the sponsor and whatever terrible marketing company came up with the idea.

  4. Ok so I think I figured out Simon's oopsy on the map location of the Nazi weather station in Labrador. I was really confused watching this one as they were showing a news slide with captions. The captions read the Nazi base name "Shatzgraber" and "it's located on an island in the Barents sea" while Simon said it was on the coast of Labrador and it's name was Station Kurt. Did some research and there are 2 different weather stations both set up in 1943. The one in the Arctic (also on the map in the video), Shatzgraber, was discovered by Russians many years after the war also. Station Kurt was discovered in 1977 according to Wikipedia. So there you go all you fellow observant and probably Canadian watchers!

  5. Guys, I love your top10z, but there's no proof that that particular Korean guy ever existed :/ for now I was watching your videos without fact checking, but apparently I was wrong 🙂

  6. The British soldier who fought with a sword and longbow who played the bagpipes would’ve been a charmingly eccentric fellow to be acquainted with!

  7. Will the truth about Hess ever be told? It's doubtful, the charges against him could be used against any soldier of any nation. So Albert Speer does 20 years, gets released and becomes rich on the book and interview circuit. Meanwhile, Hess dies in prison after spending over 40 years behind bars. Yeah, there is no cover-up going on there. As the saying goes, history is written by the victors.

  8. During afternoons at the Anzio beachhead , U.S. soldiers would play a baseball game in full view of the Germans. The Germans would cease fire and watch.

  9. How about the Toptenz about Nancy Wake. I am sure she fooled the SS many more then 10 times as the White Mouse. Her story is fascinating. I love this channel and anything WWII history is always great.

  10. The Battle of Castle Itter is fascinating to me because I'd never heard of it in spite of it clearly being the inspiration for one of my favorite novels.
THE VALHALLA EXCHANGE by Jack Higgins tells the story of a castle that is home to a group of high prestige allied prisoners. The novel involves a group of Finnish ski troops, an SS tank commander & Martin Bormannn. Clearly Higgins used the real story as a jumping off point but it's fascinating to find out it had a basis in fact (however tentative).

  11. So if i were a sargent in mad Jack's company, and why not, i was an Infantry corporal in the US army, i would have reqursted, and certainly been granted the use and carry of a hand axe and crossbow.

  12. A baby was given the name Dee Day White by his rather drunk father Mr White was born on that famous day and is 75 and has a current driving license , passport and National Insurance Number . Get this he was born at the site of the Norman invasion of 1066 that's right Dee Day was born in Hastings .

  13. Hi Simon… Reindeer are not 6 feet tall at the shoulder….fact check, lol….you so often sail close to facts only to tack away, sloppy
