Weather: SA set to break record for coldest January days

Parts of the state – including Adelaide – could endure some of its coldest January days on record, according to the weather bureau.

Today, areas such as Adelaide, Clare, Woomera and Coober Pedy are set to break the record for January’s coldest maximum temperatures due to a cloud band moving slowly across SA.

Official maximum temperatures will be confirmed about 9am this morning.

January’s average maximum temperature for Adelaide (West Tce) is 28.6C while the maximum is 36.4C for Coober Pedy, 34.7 for Woomera and 30.4C for Clare.

Today is forecast to reach 27C in Adelaide, 26C in Clare, 28C in Coobery Pedy and 27C in Woomera.

Monday: 27C, sunny

Tuesday: 31C, sunny

Wednesday: 35C, sunny

Thursday: 39C, very hot and partly cloudy

Friday: 28C, shower or two
