Stalkers throw acid on HSC examinee in Natore

Some unidentified youths threw acid on a female Higher Secondary Certificate (SSC) examinee, who they allegedly stalked, at Dangapara Natore Sadar upazila this evening.

The victim, Sanjida Akhter Bina (19), daughter of Nurul Islam of Dangapara of the upazila, is a student of Rajshahi City College, reports our Natore correspondent quoting Mohsin, additional superintendent of police of Natore Sadar Circle.

The critically injured woman was first taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, said the police official, adding that she was later taken to Dhaka as her condition deteriorated.

Quoting locals, the police officer said, some youths, who used to stalk the woman on her way to school, intercepted the girl at 5:15pm when she was returning home after tuitions and threw acid on her face.

When the victim started screaming, the perpetrators fled the scene, added the police personnel.

Locals rescued the girl and sent her to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital from where she was shifted to Dhaka.

Family members identified one of the attackers, said the police officer.

Efforts are on to nab the attackers, he added.
