Sri Lanka’s Sapugaskanda Refinery to close on 3rd Jan, Ministry assures NO fuel shortage

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Power and Energy says that the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will have to be closed again on 3rd January.

According to the Ministry, the decision was taken considering the difficulties in purchasing crude oil due to the lack of foreign reserves. 

However, the Ministry says that the refinery will recommence operations before 30th January, as the supplies from the long-time Singapore contractor will begin on 26th January.

The Ministry assures that theree will be NO fuel shortage in the country.
