Awami League lawmaker and president of Supreme Court Bar Association Abdul Matin Khashru died today at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. He was 71.
Khashru, a former law minister, was diagnosed with Covid-19 and admitted to CMH on March 16, said sources at the Parliament Secretariat.

He was put on life support at the CMH yesterday after his condition deteriorated, the sources said.
He was Member of Parliament from Cumilla-5 between 1991 and 2001.
Although he lost the seat to Md Yunus in the 2001 general election, he regained it in the 2008 general election.
He served in the first cabinet of Sheikh Hasina as the minister of law and justice from 1997 to 2001.
Khashru was elected chairman of the executive committee of Bangladesh Bar Council in 2015.
The following year he was made the law secretary of AL and also became a presidium member of the party in 2017.
Born in February 12, 1950, Khashru was elected SCBA president on March 11 this year.
President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Railways Minister M Nurul Islam Sujan and distinguished personalities expressed deep shock at the demise of Khashru.
