Two passengers died and another was injured after a gang of robbers stabbed them on the roof of a commuter train in Mymensingh’s Gafargaon upazila last night.

The deceased were male, but their identities could not be known immediately, reports our staff correspondent quoting Sohel Rana, officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Railway Police Station.

Another passenger, Rubel, sustained stab wounds and received primary treatment at a local hospital, the OC said.  

Quoting Rubel, OC Sohel Rana said when the Dewanganj-bound commuter train reached Gafargaon from Dhaka around 8:30pm, a group of robbers stabbed three passengers on the roof of the train and fled after taking their valuables.

The bodies of the two victims were kept at the morgue of the local hospital, added the OC.
