Colombo (News 1st); ‘PLEASE BE AWARE!’ said the Department of Meteorology in its latest weather warning on cyclone Burevi on late Tuesday (01).
The deep depression area in the south-west Bay of Bengal has concentrated into a cyclonic storm ‘ BUREVI’ and lay centered near latitude 7.9°N and longitude 84.8°E, about 400 km east-southeast of Trincomalee at 1730hrs today (01st December).
The system is very likely to move west-northwestwards and cross eastern coast of Sri Lanka between Batticaloa and Point-Pedro ,close to Trincomalee around tomorrow (02nd December) evening/night.
This Cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 75-85 kmph gusting up to 95 kmph and it is very likely to move nearly westwards thereafter, emerge into Gulf of Mannar.
