One more person has died of dengue while a record 329 more dengue patients were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8:00 am today indicating a fast-rising trend in the disease.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), with the new death a total of 26 people died of dengue infection in the country this year. They all died between July and August.

Twelve people died in July while 14 died in August so far.
Among the 329 new cases of dengue infection, 23 are from outside Dhaka. This is the first time in the current year that dengue infections have crossed the 300-mark in a single day, according to the DGHS.
This has brought the total number of dengue infected patients to 6650 this year, according to the DGHS. Of the total infected, only 353 are from outside Dhaka.
At least 2286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May, according to the DGHS.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 1114 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 66 are being treated outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
