Rajasthan has announced a 12-hour daily curfew – 6 pm to 6 am – across all cities starting Friday, as part of a series of measures to combat a worrying spike in Covid cases in the state. The curfew will be in effect till the end of the month.
Other measures announced include closing of markets by 5 pm every day, and the complete closure of all educational and coaching institutions.
Public functions and sporting events will not be allowed.
Weddings can have a maximum of 50 guests, as opposed to the earlier 100-guest cap.
The state reported over 6,000 new Covid cases on Tuesday, with the positivity rate skyrocketing from two per cent last month to nearly eight per cent now.
