Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan has wished his Indian counterpart Sunil Chhetri on the latter’s birthday with a heartfelt message accompanied by a picture of the two on his social media platforms.

The Bangladesh captain, who has played against Chhetri’s India on four occasions over the last eight years, have great camaraderie with the Indian icon and great respect for him both on and off the pitch, and that was reflected on his post.

“We might be big rivals on the pitch fighting to give our best for our countries to make our people proud but off the pitch you’re a brother. Happy birthday to the icon, Sunil Chhetri. Wish you a great day and many more blessings,” the social media post said.

In the most recent meeting between the two nations India beat Bangladesh 2-0, both goals scored by Chhetri.
