Colombo (News 1st); Not a single COVID-19 patient was detected as of 05:30 PM Saturday.
Acting Chief of Defence Staff, Army Commander Lt. General Shavendra Silva who also heads the National Operations Centre for Preventing COVID-19 said as of midnight on Friday 690 people tested positive for the coronavirus in Sri Lanka.
He said 10 people fully recovered from the virus and were discharged from hospital today raising the total number of people who recovered from COVID-19 to 172, with only 510 patients receiving treatment in hospitals.
He went on to add, over the past few days 2786 PCR tests were carried out across all quarantine facilities in the country, and only 45 tested positive for COVID-19.
The Army Commander went on to note, on Friday 25 COVID-19 cases were reported of which 18 were sailors from the Sri Lanka Navy Complex in Welisara.
05 others who tested positive for the virus were relatives of sailors and one person each tested positive for coronavirus from the Sri Lanka Navy Operated Quarantine Facility and a private company.
There are 4665 people undergoing quarantine across 36 facilities in the country operated by the three armed Forces.
25 facilities are operated by the Sri Lanka Army, 06 by Sri Lanka Navy, and 04 by Sri Lanka Air Force.
