COLOMBO (News 1st); The advisory committee of the Ministry of Health has decided to administer COVID-19 vaccines to pregnant mothers.

According to the Ministry of Health, Moderna, Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines will be administered to expectant mothers.

Previously, only the Sinipharm vaccine was recommended for pregnant mothers.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health stated that 21 pregnant mothers infected with COVID-19 have died so far.

Director of the Family Health Bureau, Dr. Chitramali de Silva, said that about 700 pregnant women with the coronavirus are currently being treated in hospitals.

She added that a total number of 2,800 pregnant mothers in the country are infected with COVID-19.
