A court in Joypurhat today sentenced a man to 60 years in jail for raping two minors in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat in 2017.

The convict is Abu Salam (44), from Beernagar village under Panchbibi upazila, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.

Rustam Ali, Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, delivered the verdict in presence of the accused in a crowded courtroom this afternoon.

According to the prosecution, accused Salam took the two girls to his home by luring them with chocolates while they were playing near their houses on July 7, 2017 and raped them.

Both girls were seven years old.

When the girls cried for help, locals rushed there and caught Abu Salam, who was later handed over to Panchbibi Police Station.

Later, the father of one of the victims filed a case against Salam with the police station.
