Huge plumes of thick smoke were seen after a fire broke out at a Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, today.
Fire engines were immediately rushed to the spot to douse the fire, according to news agency ANI.
“A blast was reported at Unit-3 plant in HPCL. Five fire tenders are present at the spot. More fire tenders are being rushed,” Divisional Commissioner of Police Aishwarya Rastogi told ANI.
The cause of the incident is not yet known, officials said.
Soon after the fire broke out, a warning bell was sounded to make the employees evacuate the plant.
No casualties have been reported till now.
Sources said the fire is under control now and the clouds of smoke have disappeared.
