A Narayanganj court yesterday sent a journalist to jail in connection with a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology Act.
The accused is Syed Sifat Al Rahman Linckon, general secretary of Narayanganj City Press Club and district correspondent for Ananda Television.
Linckon, who lives near Allama Iqbal road in the city, was arrested from his home yesterday and produced before the court, said police.
Ali Reza Ripon, younger sibling of Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, filed the case against him with Fatullah Model Police Station.
Ripon filed three cases against four journalists, including Linckon, under the same act on April 15, 2017 after they published news mentioning his involvement in corruption.
Rakibuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Fatullah Model Police Station, said Linckon was arrested as there was an arrest warrant against him.
“Of the four accused in three cases, two are on bail and another is on the run,” he said.
