Thursday, June 9 was a big day for two of Britney Spears’ husbands.
It was the day when she married Sam Asghari.
It was also the day that Jason Alexander stalked and trespassed on her wedding venue, getting himself arrested.
Now, despite having livestreamed his own invasion of her property, her unstable ex has pleaded not guilty.
Page Six spoke to Ventury County Senior Deputy District Attorney Erin Meister.
Jason Alexander was arraigned Tuesday on the criminal complaint that followed his livestreamed trespassing.
He appeared from jail, participating in court via Zoom.
At his arraignment, Jason entered a plea of not guilty on all counts.
The charges include stalking with a prior domestic violence conviction and three misdemeanor counts of aggravated trespassing.
Jason also faces charges of refusing to leave private property, vandalism, and battery.
Jason is facing a special enhancement charge.
The reason is that he was already on probation stemming from an unrelated case in Tennessee.
Well, yikes.
There’s no good time to stalk your ex or attempt to crash her wedding. Please don’t.
But probation has to be among the worst times.
And then Jason went and filmed his alarming invasion of Britney’s property as he evaded security and even entered her (now former) home.
During his court appearance, Jason also denied the special charge allegation.
He is still in prison, though, on $100,000 bail.
Jason Alexander faces up to five years behind bars if a jury finds him guilty.
His next court appearance on the docket is a pretrial conference.
That will take place on Tuesday, August 2.
It is possible that he might take a plea before then. But will prosecutors offer one?
To be honest, it’s unclear what defense Jason plans to mount.
He shared his crime on social media. He ranted about his intentions during the recording.
What could he possibly argue in court to avoid a conviction?
One possible answer is that he, in his mind, feels that this was justified.
In various rants, Jason has expressed unhinged beliefs attached to the fringes of #FreeBritney.
Simply put, he seems to believe that Sam Asghari is a “plant” whom Jamie Spears hired to control Britney.
This claim is false.
It is also categorically absurd, even for the twisted mind of Jamie Spears.
What dad hires a hot young model to seduce and marry his daughter? Maybe in a ’90s dramedy.
In real life, Sam is one of Britney’s biggest supporters. After six years together, he is now her husband.
We have noted over the years about the harm that unhinged conspiracy theories have done to Britney’s actual conservatorship battle.
Jason’s obsession and paranoid beliefs illustrate the more physical danger that these irresponsible accusations can cause.
Fortunately, Britney was not present for Jason’s trespassing.
She and Sam arrived later and then married without incident. They now reside in a new home.
We hope that Britney and Sam can live in peace. She has already been through so much.
