Jashore drug case accused escapes from police custody

An accused in a drug case escaped from police custody in Jashore yesterday afternoon.

Raju Sheikh alias Rajon, hailing from Jashore Sadar upazila, managed to flee from a easy-bike from Jashore Judicial Magistrate Court gate yesterday afternoon, our Benapole correspondent reports quoting Badrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station.

Police chased him but failed to catch him, he said.

According to police sources, three police constables were escorting Rajon to Jashore Judicial Magistrate Court from Sharsha Police Station through an easy-bike.

When the easy-bike reached at the gate of the court, the accused pushed constables and escaped from the scene.

On information, Saiful Islam, additional superintendent of police of Jashore, rushed to the spot. A team of Detective Branch of Police also visited the spot.

Attempts are on to nab the accused, the additional SP said.

The accused Rajon was arrested along with yaba pills. A case under Narcotics Control Act was filed against him with Sharsha Police Station.
