A female assistant commissioner (AC) of Jamalpur Sadar and six others were diagnosed to be positive for the coronavirus, raising the total confirmed cases in the district to 74.
Confirming the matter, Mahfujur Rahman Suhan, health and family planning officer of Jamalpur Sadar, said they received the test results from Mymensingh Medical College (MMC) PCR lab today evening.
Mahfujur Rahman is now acting in absence of the district civil surgeon as the civil surgeons was placed in isolation earlier after testing positive for coronavirus.
Other than the AC, a 35-year-old office assistant of Jamalpur General Hospital, a 28-year-old staff at the district civil surgeon office, two staffers aged between 50 and 35 of Islampur Upazila Health Complex, a 30-year-old staff of Dewanganj Upazila Health Complex and a 38-year-old man of Islampur Upazila who recently returned from Narayanganj, also tested Covid-19 positive, said Mahfujur.
With five health workers, the number of coronavirus cases in the health services of Jamalpur has reached 32. Of them, 10 are doctors and 17 are health workers, the health and family planning officer said.
The AC will remain in home isolation while the others will be shifted to the isolation centre at Sheikh Hasina Medical College in the district town, he added.
