Ideology of Bangabandhu still alive, says new chief justice

Newly appointed Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique today said that Bangabandhu’s ideology kept him alive even after his death.

“It is true that Bangabandhu has been killed physically on August 15, 1975. But, his ideology is still alive. He is in our heart and feelings,” the chief justice said.

Judges are working to implement his ideology, he added.

The chief justice made the comment while speaking to media after paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths on his portrait at Dhanmondi-32 in Dhaka today.

He signed the Condolence Book there, Supreme Court Spokesman Md Saifur Rahman told The Daily Star.

Later, the CJ also placed wreaths at National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar and paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War, the SC spokesman said.

Judges of the Appellate Division Justice Md Nuruzzaman and Justice Obaidul Hassan and SC officials were also present there.

Justice Hasan Foez Siddique was appointed as the chief justice on December 30. He took oath as the 23rd chief justice of Bangladesh on December 31.
