Habiganj police officer says received Covid-19 vaccines of 2 different brands

A police officer in Habiganj’s Ajmiriganj upazila today claimed that he received his second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, Sinopharm, which differed from the first jab.

Bidyut Kumar Das, a sub-inspector of Kakailcheo Naval Police outpost, was administered Covishield (Oxford-AstraZeneca) when he took the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, he told our Moulvibazar correspondent.

He went to Ajmiriganj Upazila Health Complex to take his second dose today.

But the staff there gave him Sinopharm vaccine, he alleged.

Habiganj Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Mukhlisur Rahman Uzzal said, World Health Organization has not given instruction about mixing different brands of Covid-19 vaccines.

Steps will be taken after looking into the matter, he said.

SI Bidyut received the first jab on April 11.
