The government is considering treating Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms at hotels, as hospitals throughout the country have been stretched to their limits, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said today.
“There is no space left [for Covid-19 patients] in the hospitals. Now, we are considering hotels for these patients with mild Covid symptoms,” Zahid Maleque said while talking to journalists following an inter-ministerial meeting at the Secretariat.

He said this at a time when the health directorate logged 15,776 new cases and 235 deaths in 24 hours, till 8:00am today.
Mentioning the reopening of garment factories, the minister said, “The other industries will also be reopened gradually; transport and other business operations will also resume. There will be detailed directives on it soon.”
“[However], 90 percent general beds and 99 percent ICU beds are occupied. For this, we have been converting the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University [convention center] to a field hospital,” the minister added.
