Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated across the world by the devotees of LordGabesha on Monday. It is also called Vinayaka Chaturthi and marks the birth of Lord Shiv’s son Lord Ganesha. Although Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated by the followers everywhere, it is particularly more popular in Maharashtra and Karnataka. It is a happy festival marked by dance and music. A traditional sweet called ‘modak’ is offered to the deity of Bappa(the loving name for Lord Ganesha). It is usually a ten days festival which begins with bringing the idol home and worshipping it for one and a half, three, five, seven or ten days. At the end of it, the idol is immersed in water.
Celebrities also celebrate the festival with great fervor and zeal.
