A farmer was stabbed to death at Saniajan village of Gaddimari union under Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat last night.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek (55), resident of the village, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent quoting Ershadul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatibandha Police Station.

The incident took place at the village around 9:00pm last night.

Quoting witnesses, the police officer said the farmer was killed on the spot as he was stabbed in his head and back with sharp weapons by unidentified perpetrators.

On information, police rushed to spot and recovered the body, he said, adding that they are yet to discover the reason behind the murder.

The OC said they are working to nab the criminals involved in the crime.
