A student of Dhaka University has been missing for the last two days when he left for his village home from a hall of the university on Friday morning.
The student, Himel Hamid, of DU’s Chemistry Department (2014-2015 Session), is the son of Billal Shikder of Jamalhatkura village under Sakhipur upazila of Tangail, reports our local correspondent quoting police.

His father told The Daily Star today that he heard from an unverified source that his son was found in an unconscious state at Jamalpur Sadar Hospital. He immediately started for Jamalpur but then returned home later after being informed that it was a rumour.
“Himel called me over mobile phone on Thursday night from the Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall and told me that he will come home on Friday morning. Since then, he has been missing,” said Billal Shikder.
Since he did not return home and his mobile phone was found switched off, Himel’s cousin Mahbub Shikder, lodged a general diary (GD) with Shahbagh Police Station on Saturday night, said the father.
Saidul Haque Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Sakhipur Police Station in Tangail told this correspondent that he heard about the incident and a “missing diary” was filed in this connection with Shahbag Police Station.
We are investigating the matter, he added.
Moudut Hawlader, officer-in-charge of Shahbag Police Station, said they found the trace of the missing student’s mobile phone in Tangail yesterday but were yet to find him.
Asked about the student’s trace at Jamalpur Sadar Hospital, the OC said someone might have tried to blackmail his father with fake information.
