COLOMBO (News 1st): The Cabinet of Ministers has greenlit the appointment of a consultant company as an independent engineer to supervise the construction and maintenance of the Elevated Expressway from the Athurugiriya Inter-Change of the Outer-Circular Expressway to the Kelani Bridge via Rajagiriya.

The relevant decision was taken to ensure the quality of the proposed road and the construction within the stipulated time.

Accordingly, the Cabinet had approved the proposal made by the Minister of Highways to take the necessary steps to select a suitable institution following the formal procurement method, at the Cabinet meeting held yesterday (13).

It has been decided that the Road Development Authority should act as the employer of the consulting firm.

The Cabinet previously approved the awarding of the contract for planning, constructing, funding and operating the Expressway to (DBFOT) M/s China Harbor Engineering Corporation.
