Cricketer-turned-commentator Ramiz Raja has advised legends and pundits to be careful with the words they use in their videos.
“The microphone is a powerful weapon,”
Raja said in a video on his YouTube channel. “It takes just two minutes to pull
someone’s pants down. There is a certain way of speaking about someone. It
should be digestible. We should be speaking in a way that people become a fan
of you and it shouldn’t hurt someone deeply.”
Stressing on the need of understanding your boundaries, Raja said that cases are being reported to the cyber-crime department whereas spats are taking place between the Pakistan Cricket Board and certain individuals.
“Some of them have crossed the line and this is because they vent out their anger when they get frustrated. There are ways to do that as well,” he said.
The commentator says that current and retired players earn their living through the game. He added that their statements directly affect the game.
He added that the mudslinging which which took place during the match-fixing scandal in the wake of the Justice Qayyum report brought cricketing quality to the ground. “Players should realize that it shouldn’t happen again.”
