Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Enamul Hasan Farooqi, personal assistant of Hefajat-e-Islam’s convening committee Amir Junayed Babunagari, from Chattogram’s Hathazari upazila last night over mayhem in the upazila on March 26.

Rab members from Hathazari camp arrested Farooqi (24) from Boro Digharpar area under Fatehbad union round 11:30pm yesterday, Lt Col Moshiur Rahman, Commanding Officer (CO) of Rab-7, told our Chattogram staff correspondent today.

“Farooqi is FIR accused in a sabotage case filed over the mayhem on March 26 with Hathazari police station. He is also an accused in Shah Ahmad Shafi murder case filed by Shaif’s brother-in-law,” said the commanding officer.

Farooqi used to send press releases of Hefajat to media, said the Rab official, adding that he was handed over to Hathazari Police Station.
