Peshawar Zalmi opener Hazatullah Zazai will
miss the start of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 after testing positive
for coronavirus,
He becomes
the fifth player of the franchises to get infected from the global pandemic. The
left-hander will undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine.
A week-long
quarantine means he will likely miss the first three matches of his side
against Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars between Jan 28
and Feb 2.
His
participation in the subsequent matches is subject to a negative Covid-19 test.
Apart from
the Afghanistan international, wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal, Zalmi captain
Wahab Riaz, top-order batter Haider Ali and pacer Arshad Iqbal were also
infected by the virus.
In the absence
of Wahab Riaz, veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik is expected to lead the team.
