The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has asked the Health Ministry to provide information on all doctors who have been transferred on various grounds since late March.

Some doctors were coincidentally transferred after they raised questions over the standard of masks, gloves and personal protective equipment.

On June 18, the ACC formed an enquiry committee to probe graft allegations over N-95 masks, PPE and safety gear procurement anomalies at Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD).

Yesterday, the committee in a letter asked the Health Ministry for personal information of doctors who have been transferred on different grounds from March 26 to present date.

The commission also sought information over N-95 mask and PPE procurement irregularities from the Health Ministry, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and CMSD.

In a letter, ACC Director Mir Md Zainul Abedin Shebly asked the secretary of the Health Ministry, director general of DGHS and director of CMSD to reply by June 30, ACC’s Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said.

ACC asked the Health Ministry to provide details about projects taken to procure masks, PPEs, sanitisers, ICU equipment, ventilators, PCR machines, Covid-19 test kits and others to combat the virus from the start of the pandemic.

The team also asked the ministry to disclose the amount of allocation made for projects, expenditures and names of implementing organisations.

If there was any action taken against any organization — including JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing Ltd — ACC sought the records of the punishment.

ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said the commission has taken a strong position against corruption in health sector.

“We hope they will provide the information in due time,” he added.
