6-storey building tilted in Dhaka’s Sutrapur, residents evacuated

A six-storey residential building has tilted in Dhaka’s Sutrapur area this evening, spreading panic among its residents and neighbours.

The locals first noticed the building has leaned and informed fire service around 5:30pm.

Two firefighting units rushed there and immediately evacuated its residents. Each floor has a single unit of flat, Babul Mia, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.

No casualties was reported, he said.

Later, representatives from Rajuk, Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka District Administration rushed there and sealed off the building around 9:30am, said Moinul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sutrapur Police Station.

Further decision will be taken after the inspection, he said.
