44 fishermen detained in Sundarbans by Forest Department

The Forest Department, in a drive last night, detained 44 fishermen and seized four trawlers for unauthorised entry into the Sundarbans.

They were detained from Sundarbans East Forest Division’s Dubla area, under the Sharankhola Range. The forest rangers seized a huge amount of Hilsa fishing nets from the trawlers.

All the detainees hailed from Indurkani area of ​​Pirojpur district, reports our Bagerhat correspondent.

Mohammad Belayet Hossain, divisional forest officer (DFO) of Sundarbans East Forest Department, said that the fishermen were trying to catch fish without any permit. Legal action will be taken against them.
