A fire broke out after an explosion at a two-storey building in Nitaiganj area of Narayanganj this morning.

“Six units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and are working to the douse the flame,” said Fakhruddin Ahmed, deputy assistant director, Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defense.

The explosion took place around 9:00am at the ground floor of the building in Dalpotti area. The explosion has also caused a few walls to collapse, he said.

He added that seven people were hurt when the walls collapsed, and three people sustained burn injuries.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately. 

Police are also present at the scene.
