Ten members of a family have tested positive for Covid-19 in Patiya upazila of Chattogram.
Patiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farhana Jahan Upama confirmed this to The Daily Star.
One member of the family who resides in Bahaddarhat area of the port city returned home last week and was later found Covid-19 positive according to the test report which arrived on May 6, UNO Farhana said.
“Then we locked down the house in Ward 9 under Patiya municipality and collected samples from the other family members for Covid-19 tests and advised them to stay in home isolation,” she said.
“The test results from Bangladesh Institute of Tropical & Infectious Diseases (BITID) came positive last (Monday) night for nine other family members including a 61-year old woman and a three and half year old child,” UNO Farhana also said.
“All of them are in home isolation,” the official added.
